chapter 12-16 of Far North

Summary: In chapters 12-16 it was about they set up camp after rafting further down the river. Then it talked about johnny leading them to a cabin further in the woods and that there was a food cache set up there. they continued to manage with little food. Eventually another Chinook came around and they started building traps. They stayed at the cabin a little longer and one day when johnny was out hunting he died of a heart attack. He left them with and envelope telling them that he wished he could he told them the old stories and ways and that it wasn't only to preserve the old ways but lessons on how to keep surviving.Later on they decided they needed to move on to get to Nahanni Butte by hiking up the river because they couldn't find food. So as they headed up the river they ran across a place where the water was unfrozen so they tried the ice bridge and Gabe fell in. Raymond saved his life and they came up with a new plan. They were going to hike to Yukon to get food and just spend the rest of winter there and on their way they go hunting for sheep.
Response to question 2: In chapter 12 the feelings I felt were mostly curious. Who was Patterson and how did Johnny know about that place? In chapter 13 and 14 it was sad. Johnny seemed like he really cared to teach his great nephew about a lot but he died before he got the chance. In chapter 15 I kind of felt bad for Raymond because he just lost a family member and he had to think about how to not die himself instead of be with his other family members.
In Chapter 15 I was also a little scared. The part where he was trying out the ice bridge and he fell in I thought he was going to die. But Raymond pulled him out. I had one question though. Why did Raymond tell him to get up?
